My work is drawn from daily life, but with adjustments. Whatever is in front of me I read as patterns of dark and light and color, surfaces and textures and brushstrokes. I am regularly surprised by new subjects, or new shadings of old ones. In theory, this means that anything is a subject, but some things interest me more than others. Why that is comes from personality and experience—from history, from ancestors, from Adam & Eve. It all gets very tangled and complex. If it were less so, art would be much more predictable and much less interesting.
